Phensem Expands Advocacy Efforts with Knowledge-Sharing Program in Paro

On June 8th and 9th, 2023, Phensem PSGB, with the support from Save the Children and in collaboration with the ECCD and SEN Division, Ministry of Education and skills Development organized a 2-day Advocacy, Knowledge, and Experience Sharing Program in Paro. The main objective was to equip and empower primary caregivers, predominantly mothers, teachers and facilitators through advocacy, capacity building, knowledge and experience sharing platforms and active engagement to become better support and advocate for Person with disabilities. As a part of this project, the program was held by Phensem PSGB for the first time out of Thimphu.

A total of 82 participants, including parents, teachers, and facilitators from Drukgyel Higher Secondary School, Wangsel Institute for the Deaf, Woochu Lower Secondary School, Shari ECCD Center, and Paro Elementary & ECCD attended the program. Through this project program Phensem intends to reach out to parents and families and initiate Phensem chapters (Parents Support Groups) in different Dzongkhags.
