Phensem Hosts Workshop on Assistive Technology for Inclusive Learning

13th May 2023: As part of the series of Training Workshop on Inclusive Learning and Play supported by the Rotary Club of Thimphu, Phensem Parents Support Group, Bhutan held the 4th series Training Workshop on “Technology as an Assistive Tool for Learning”. The Training was interrelated with the Training Workshop held earlier by Phensem PSGB on 6th May 2023 on helping to provide children with disabilities with alternative modes of communication who have challenges with communication issues such as lack of speech and language or motor skills issues.

The Training had participants divided into small groups consisting of parents, teachers and SEN Aides attending in-person and online to work together in teams. The participants were introduced on how to use power points in computers to assist learning for children who have difficulties in communication. Participants were also introduced on the use of Assistive Technology (AT) devices, and how to use simple apps such as Kavi+, Kavi PTS, and other apps which can be used through tabs and phones to help children with disabilities to communicate better.

There were in total 28 participants (18 in-person and 10 virtual) who attended the Training. The trainers were AAC trainers from the Communication Department of Vidya Sagar, India.
